What do you believe about the state of the environment?

I believe the media should get their facts straight... it seems to be confusing people. The earth is scarred, yes, and it is our fault. Science has proved that species are degrading, ocean life depleting, green-house gasses damaging, and our natural resources have been and are still being misused. Why is that? If science, which is the institution humans look to for answers to life's most complex questions, has repeatedly warned us with good hard evidence, then why haven't we listened?

For those who don't think that the environment is being misused, take a trip to West Virginia and check out the mountain tops that have been removed so we can burn more coal that only adds to the problem (double whammy!). Then, fly to Worcester (that's in Germany) or Huddersfield (that's in the UK) and check out all the peeps with solar panels. I use them as an example, since both towns are a good example of what more of our towns should look like...like we give just one (1) small damn about the big house we live in called Earth.

Anyone who has lived with hurricanes (like back home in Florida) has seen the warning label on gas generators... Using a generator indoors will KILL YOU IN MINUTES. It's not a joke, 64 people died in 2005 and 32 in just the last two months of 2006, from running their generators indoors. This prompted the US government to approve a new warning label to be placed on generators. That means, the companies who sell generators now have to place this label on their products before shipping it off to us because it could harm us or our house. See, the government is doing something. If your inclined, use the attached warning label to create a green label, something like Using this product outdoors will.... Something whacky and creative, then put it on that product and carry it like a badge.

We just need to be more proactive. Stop pretending like we don't care about the starving toxic waste-ridden animals near the artic (aka Polar Bears), or the increase in natural disasters that kill thousands of people each year, or the extreme poverty and death plaguing the areas that surround  Earth 's natural resources; while we Americans chomp on McD's and talk about American Idol. Stop being American Idiots. Stop thinking about yourself for one American Moment. Listen to your fellow friends of this Earth that are working every day to change the world and respecting our Earth while doing it.

Help. Invest in green energy...demand it! Buy food locally; then worry if its organic. Be democratic...vote for issues, not people (just use Bush as an example). Learn how to do  business responsibly. Stop listening to the media...it's only there to shield you from the truth (try googling 'independent media' and learn what's really going on). Take your country back from socialism. Get by on less. Conserve a little more. Be a citizen, not a consumer. Take a hint or ask advice from your friendly neighbors across the vast oceans or right down the street! There are people who care, and try every day to make their own difference. Join in and change the world one step at a time. It only takes 50 million.

always thinq4yourself. Listen to your Mother and don't ignore her.
